Multiple Sclerosis (MS)

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is the most common immune-mediated inflammatory demyelinating disease of the central nervous system. It causes vision problems, numbness and tingling, muscle weakness, and other problems(1).

Multiple sclerosis is typically treated with disease-modifying drugs, this approach substantially controls inflammatory activity, but not neurodegenerative processes, and does not cure the disease, so people with multiple sclerosis often experience residual symptoms and dysfunction(2).

Exercise training has increasingly been recommended for patients with multiple sclerosis to manage symptoms(3). Robot-assisted gait training is feasible and may be an effective therapeutic option in MS patients with severe walking disabilities(4). Virtual reality systems may strengthen the effect of robot-assisted gait training(5). In addition, aquatic therapy can improve the gait speed in patients with multiple sclerosis(6).

Pulmonary rehabilitation
Pulmonary rehabilitation should be a part of the rehabilitation program for patients with MS to improve the activity of daily living(7). After the assessment of your doctor, you will be prepared for a rehabilitation program that composes of different treatment modalities especially determined for you. During the treatment process, it may be modified your treatment program in accordance with your functional development.
